Most homeowners never think about what's going on underneath their solar panels. Out of sight, out of mind. But birds have figured out that the gap between your panels and your roof is basically a perfect home - shaded, sheltered, and undisturbed. And once they move in, they leave behind a mess that can seriously damage your roof over time.

We're talking compacted nests, droppings, straw, and debris that block drainage and trap moisture against your tiles. That combination is rough on any roof, and on tile roofs especially. The buildup settles into the valleys between tiles and just sits there. Left alone long enough, it leads to cracked tiles, water intrusion, and repair bills that could have been avoided entirely.

When we get up on a roof to handle solar panel bird proofing and cleaning, we do a thorough removal first - nests, droppings, all of it - before anything else. We bag it up and take it off the roof completely. Then we clean the affected area and the panels themselves so everything is back to working the way it should. The difference between a neglected roofline and a clean one is significant.

After the cleanup, we install bird proofing to close off the gap under the panels so birds can't get back in. It's a simple fix that prevents a recurring problem. And once the panels are clean, they perform better too - dirty panels lose efficiency, and most people don't realize how much grime builds up just from dust, droppings, and general exposure.

If you've got solar and you haven't had anyone check underneath, it's worth looking into. The damage tends to happen slowly and quietly, which is exactly why so many homeowners catch it late. We'd rather help you get ahead of it.
