We were recently out in Upland taking care of a full Tesla Solar Roof cleaning on a large home - and this one was a good example of why routine maintenance on these roofs actually matters. Tesla's glass solar tiles are built to last, but they still pick up the same dust, mineral deposits, and grime buildup that any roof does. Left alone, that layer of debris sits right on top of the glass surface that's supposed to be absorbing sunlight.
The Tesla Solar Roof is a different animal compared to traditional solar panels. Instead of separate panels mounted on top of existing shingles, the tiles themselves are the roof. Every square inch of that glass surface is either generating power or protecting the one next to it that is. That's why cleaning it correctly - without scratching or damaging the tile surface - takes some know-how. You can't just run a pressure washer over it and call it a day.
What we're working with here is a large, multi-pitch roof with a lot of surface area. The buildup was visible across the tiles - dust, hard water deposits, and general grime coating the glass texture. Getting into the valleys, around the vents, and along the ridge lines all requires working carefully and methodically. We treat each section of the roof the same way, making sure nothing gets missed.
A clean Tesla roof isn't just about looks, though it does make a noticeable difference. The cleaner the glass surface, the better sunlight can pass through and get converted into energy. For homeowners in the Upland and Inland Empire area, where dust and heat are a regular part of life, keeping up with solar roof cleaning is one of the simplest ways to keep your system performing the way it was designed to.
If your Tesla Solar Roof is overdue for a cleaning, we service homes throughout the area and know exactly what these roofs need to stay in good shape.
