We were up on a Yorba Linda roof for a biannual solar panel cleaning - and when we're already up there, we like to make sure everything gets some attention. That's exactly what happened here. The panels got a full cleaning, and we wrapped things up with a complimentary cleaning of three skylights on the same property.
Dirt, dust, and grime build up on solar panels faster than most people realize - especially in Southern California where dry, dusty conditions are the norm. When panels are coated with that layer of debris, they can't absorb sunlight as efficiently as they're designed to. Regular cleaning is one of the simplest ways to protect the output of your system and get the most from what you paid for.
The skylights were a bonus on this visit. Two of them had a heavy haze and streaking across the glass that was noticeably cutting down how much natural light was passing through. Once cleaned, that glass was clear and reflecting the sky cleanly. It's one of those things you don't notice has gotten worse until it's finally fixed.
We do biannual schedules for a lot of our customers - twice a year tends to hit that sweet spot between keeping panels performing well and not over-servicing. If you're not sure when your panels were last cleaned, that's usually a sign it's been too long.
